This poem was sent to me this morning by a retired minister. A beautiful memorial to not only the children lost on Tuesday, but as you read the last few lines, you will see it is a tribute to ALL who died. Ode to an Angel Do you know why little girl, the world saw you die Do you understand politics or hatred or the reason why? Do you feel a nations tears and love As you look down on the universe from above? You never got a hug goodbye And now looking down you see your relatives cry Do you understand what hatred can do Do you understand why death happened to you? Oh little child all the things on earth you'll miss School days, sunshine, your first boyfriends kiss. And your poor parents everyday will think of you And all the things you'll never get to see or do. It's so very sad child this world full of hate and now for you it's too late. But as you look down you sense and know That your tragic ending will make peoples grow Some will forever change their view Just because of what happened to you. And though you might not understand why you changed the world when hatred caused you to die. Alexzander Green September 13, 2001
